Description and Purpose

The Ashtanga Primary Series, also known as Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy), is a precise and systematic sequence of postures designed to purify the body, strengthen the nervous system, and cultivate a focused mind. This traditional practice follows a set order of poses, linked by specific breathing (Ujjayi) and gaze points (Drishti), creating a vigorous and meditative flow. It’s designed to detoxify the body and build internal heat.

Difficulty Level

Advanced. This class is suitable for experienced practitioners who have a foundational understanding of Ashtanga or a strong physical practice. Prior experience with Vinyasa flow or a similar vigorous style is recommended.
